Pregnancy: 37 Weeks!

I’m officially full term! Yippee! I just can’t believe I am 37 weeks pregnant and that my baby is just 3 weeks away.

How I’m Feeling…

Monday night I started getting some light cramps, which continued through the night and all day Tuesday, which was my 36 week + 3 days checkup. That appointment was the first where she checked to see if I was dilated. I was really praying that I’d be just a little dilated. My gut told me I wouldn’t be, though. I was right. I told my doctor about the cramps, so she hooked me up to monitor baby’s heartbeat and my contractions. I had one “official” contraction, which was really a neat experience (I’m sure I’m just saying that because it didn’t actually hurt.)

For me, though, the best moment was when she was checking me she said, “I can feel his head!” I wanted to jump off of the table and dance. It’s been in these last weeks that things have started to get real! I had cramps for the rest of the day and since then they have been off and on but nothing too painful.

Baby Gear…

I took a big load of stress off and finally got the goods! My mom and I went to the store and she helped me pick out all of the stuff I will need (minus the car seat, stroller, and bed). It really helped to have my mom with me, so I could have a fully functioning brain with me to think through everything. Also, all of my research really paid off, so I felt I knew what my options were + what I wanted vs. needed. After my last doctor appointment, it really started setting in that things could happen at any moment, so I went home and ordered the car seat, stroller, and bed online and I feel super happy about all 3! They are all scheduled to arrive on October 3rd (which is just 4 days away).

My sleep has only worsened from the last update I did. I’ve had a lot of side pains, so I’m switching from left to right side pretty frequently. Also, waking up to go to the bathroom becoming even more frequent. I’m focusing a lot less on time than I was before (bedtime, morning time, etc.). Whenever I can sleep is when I will sleep. The feeling of I gotta sleep now was only stressing me out.

I had one real craving this week: cookies. I wanted to make my homemade, vegan cookies, but I just couldn’t get the energy to start that, so I found some dairy free, gluten free cookie dough at the grocery and just used that. Those didn’t last 24 hours.

I’m joking now that once the rest of the baby gear arrives on Wednesday, I’m going to start loading up on all things said to induce labor. Spicy foods, raspberry tea, walking, yoga, whatever… I’ll try it. Anyone know something that really works?! Please send it my way!

At my 34 week appointment, my doctor told me that I have pregnancy induced carpal tunnel. I had been having pretty severe pain in my wrists and fingers every morning. Also, my hands were very noticeably swollen. She suggested different stretches to try to release the fluid from my hands/wrists. The stretches have helped, but it takes a while for the pain to ease up. Now, my knees are really starting to hurt when I sit down and stand up. Its every time I sit/stand I remind myself, just 3 more weeks!

Hospital Bag…

I have made just a teeny bit of progress with a packing list that I have started in my phone. I also have a list of items that I need to buy for myself, which I planning to head out this evening to see if I can’t get all the items on my list. I will start packing very soon. I really will. And I admit, it is giving me a bit of anxiety when I think about going into labor with zero items packed.
