It seems like when you have a baby the days start to blend together. Anyone else feel me on that one? Monday, Sunday, Friday … what’s the difference?!
Let’s talk baby products for a little bit. After I had Noah and I started meeting other moms, I realized, dang – there are a lot of baby products out there. Every time I see something new, I wonder, do I need that? Why didn’t I get that?
When I was pregnant, my baby product philosophy was: keep it simple and budget friendly. While I wanted to have everything my baby would need, I didn’t want to load up on unnecessary items that I’d just throw into a pile in the closet. Then, the question became how in the world do you decide what to buy? And, if you decide to buy a bouncy seat – which one?! There seem to be hundreds. Am I the only one who feels completely overwhelmed when there are 50 choices in front of me?! You can check out my first experience into the land of 1 million baby products while I was pregnant in my post: Pregnancy: Part 3.
Now that I have the hang of things a bit more, I’ve come up with my top 3 favorite products which I use all day every day. If there is anyone else out there like me, it helps to have things simplified. I’ve read lists of “here’s every baby product you’ll ever need,” but in the end that was more overwhelming than helpful because again, there are so many things to choose from. Without further ado, here’s my favorite 3.
My 3 Favorite Baby Products
- Graco Slim Spaces Compact Swing. This swing is simple. Budget friendly. And it gets the job done. Noah can chill and sleep in there. It’s not complicated, and it doesn’t do robotics like some of the other swings seem to do. It just – swings. Give it 4 D batteries and you’re good to go.
2. Halo Sleepsack 100% Cotton Swaddle, Heather Gray, Small. The other day I talked a lot about my love for this swaddle and how well it works to get Noah to sleep and stay asleep. The best part about it is that it isn’t just a swaddle, it is also a sleep sack. Also, you have swaddle options. You can do the burrito swaddle, one arm out, or both arms out. Using this every time I put Noah to sleep has helped me to gauge what I should dress him in so that he maintains the appropriate temperature while he’s sleeping. For naps, I dress him in a long-sleeve onesie and socks then wrap him in the Halo. At night, I put him in zip-up footie PJs and then wrap him up.
3.BABYBJORN Baby Carrier Original – Black, Cotton. Noah was born October 23, 2018 and I got this for Christmas (when he was about 2.5 months old). This was a GAME CHANGER. I don’t mean to be dramatic, but I’m serious. Noah loves when I hold him, and I love to hold him. I discovered, though, after weeks of feeling glued to the rocking chair or sofa, I needed to be about to get stuff done. Let’s not even get started on grocery shopping. How in the world are you supposed to grocery shop with a infant seat without a second set of hands?!
My friend told me about a hammock type of thing that sits in the top of the grocery cart and the baby can lay in it while the groceries go underneath. While that looks like a neat idea, I haven’t tried it because I’m just loving the babybjorn. Noah loves to look around for a little while, then he goes right to sleep on my chest. It’s perfect.
